Sport: Swimming

Status: Retired

Biography: I won my first Welsh National Champion title at the age of 14 in the 100m Breaststroke and then was selected for the first time onto the Welsh Squad. I was selected to represent Wales in every inter-country event after my initial selection. Later, I won the 200m Breaststroke Welsh Champion title. At the age of 16, I first started to become aware of my menstruation irregularities and began to feel concerned. It wasn’t until the pandemic that I realised I was struggling with an eating disorder. Furthermore, I discovered I had been struggling with REDs (Relative Energy Deficiency in Sport). Nonetheless, I went on to achieve my fastest time at the British Championships in the 200m Breaststroke after recovering and in June 2023 I decided to step away from swimming. My new sporting passion lies in Crossfit.

Most proud of: The change I, and my closest friends and family, have witnessed in me since I chose to recover from my eating disorder. For pushing through all the horrible parts and coming out the other side. It has taught me that life is precious and I feel that it has made me appreciate everything life has to offer.

Why are you involved with Athlete Interactions? It was the openness of others that inspired me to seek help for my own mental health, and so I’d love to give back. I’ve learnt that it’s when we feel alone that you really aren’t alone, and so I want to be part of changing the narrative for future generations of female athletes, so that everyone has access to the support that they deserve..

Current / Future Education / Career: Currently in my final year of uni, studying Biological Science. Planning to take a year out after I graduate, to travel (another new passion of mine!) and then settle into work; something relating to women’s health!
